Robert W. Leonard, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 17, 1939 in Illinois to the late William and Noble (Brown) Leonard. Robert was united in marriage to his wife, Gloria (Carlson) Leonard on May 16, 2003 in Grayslake, IL. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. During his lifetime he enjoyed family parties, tinkering in the garage, and riding his UTV.
Bob was a patient, caring, loving father to both of his sons. Completely self-less, always putting their needs in front of his. An all around handy-man/Mr. Fix-it, he was always eager to teach and pass on any skills he had to them as well. Never afraid to get his hands dirty or tackle a new project whether it was something as simple as basic electrical work around the house, working on one of the family cars, or helping a neighbor in need of assistance. His knowledge, kindness and eagerness in taking on any new task or project was unprecedented.
He is survived by his wife; Gloria Leonard, seven children; Erik and John Leonard, Scott (Stacey) Carlson, Anne (Mark) Novicki, Barth (Karin) Carlson, Jorus (Robin) Carlson, and Sheldon Carlson, sister; Lee Conway, eleven grandchildren; Rachael, Kayla, Luke, Owen, Tobias, Wesley, Curtis, Elizabeth, Janelle, Jolene and Maxine and eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; William and Noble Leonard and his former spouse; Nancy.
