Dale D. Merrill, 80, of Wheatland and Harshaw Wisconsin, passed away July 23, 2015 at home with his loving wife Grace with him.  Born on June 12, 1935 to the late Emmett and Anna Merrill in Kenosha County.  Dale and Grace (McCormack) were married on June 15, 1954 and had 61 wonderful and very active years of marriage together.

Dale served in the United States Naval Reserves. He was retired from AMC/Chrysler as a tool and die maker, also having worked after retirement as a Gateway Technical College EMS instructor and milking cows at Mighty Grand Dairy.  He enjoyed every minute of these “retirement” jobs.  Early in his life, Dale worked for Simmons Corp., RW Fisher Excavating, Westosha Tool, and drove School Bus.  He coached in the Lakeland Little League/Pony League Baseball Organization.

He was a retired 20 year volunteer Salem Fire Department member and 20 year volunteer EMT for Salem Rescue.  He and Grace volunteered 20 years with the Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services Association. Dale was a life- long member of Salem United Methodist Church.  A talented woodworker, many family and friends will cherish the special pieces he made for them.

Dale was especially supportive of his children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren.  So many special memories will live on.  He especially enjoyed his retirement home in Harshaw watching the wildlife right at his back door and was a wonderful tour guide of his property on his golf cart.  Dale and Grace shared many wonderful trips and cruises together with family and special friends.  Dale was our GPS before GPS existed!

Further survived by grandchildren Eric Lois, Marc (Brenda) Lois, Tara Daniels, Maxx (Erin McGrath) Daniels, Adam Merrill, Bret (Bailey Lieck) Merrill.  Great-grandchildren Ally, Zoey and Owen Lois.  Further survived by brother Duane (Pat) Merrill, sister Darlene (Gene) Ludwig, sister and brother in laws, Marge Merrill, Sandra McCormack, Charles (Claire) McCormack , Ruth Perry, Beverly Glasman, Robert (Sharon) McCormack, Barb (Carl) Pawlik and Aunt Jane Sorensen.  He is also survived by many special family and friends from many walks of life.
