Darrell D. Brellenthin

Darrell D. Brellenthin, 85, of Elkhorn, WI, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Lakeland Health Care Center.  He was born August 23, 1931 in Elkhorn, the son of the late Harry and Frances (Bartelson) Brellenthin.  Darrell graduated from Elkhorn Area High School Class of 1949. He served from 1950 to 1958 in the United States National Reserves. Darrell married Lois A. Petrie on September 11, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elkhorn.  He was a machine operator and foreman with A.O. Smith of Elkhorn for 16 years.  Darrell was route supervisor at Alder Dean Foods in Delavan for 22 years. He served as bailiff for the Walworth County Court House for 6 years.  Darrell was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church serving as an usher and on the church council.   He played for the VFW Drum-Bugle Corp. 

Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lois, seven children; Mark (Belinda Beckner) Brellenthin, Dan (Deborah) Brellenthin, Mike (Donna) Brellenthin, Tim (Raelee) Brellenthin, Jody (Perry Hansen) Southern, Kurt (Gina) Brellenthin, and Jon (Verna) Brellenthin, 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Donald.

Funeral services 3:00PM on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 104 S. Broad St. Elkhorn, with Pastor Tom DeGroot officiating. Visitation 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N Wisconsin St. Elkhorn and 2:30PM until service time Tuesday at the church.  Interment following funeral services at Springfield-Union Cemetery in Springfield, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
