Donald L. Koehnke

Donald L. Koehnke, 71 of S. Lincoln Street Elkhorn, WI died Wednesday April 20, 2016 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center Milwaukee, WI.  He was born September 18, 1944 in Burlington, WI the son of the late Ellsworth W. and Dorothy E. (Baumeister) Koehnke.  He graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1962.  He served in the US Navy from August 30, 1962 until January 31, 1966.  He was married to Rosemary “Gail” Miller from October 18, 1963 until January 21, 1976. Then on September 18, 1976 he married Wendy S. Channing in Richmond, IL.  In his working career he worked as a roofer for over 10 years, worked maintenance for Landon’s and Andies Candies, he owned and operated the Old Town Cobbler Shop in Elkhorn, WI from 1985 until 1996, he became a certified Pedorthist in 1991 and was currently working at Dale’s Bootery in Whitewater, WI.  He was a member of the Pedorthist Footware Association. He enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing, wood working and leather crafting.  Don is survived by his wife Wendy, six children: Kelly (Scott) Simons, Kristine (Randy) Rollins, Kay Koehnke, Joe (Laurie) Koehnke all of Elkhorn, WI, Michael (Lindsay) Koehnke of Madison, WI and Sarah Beth (Kevin) Robertson of Elkhorn, WI, Twenty grandchildren; Taylor Nicole, Ashley Renee and Amanda Lynn Simons, Jessalyn (Bryan) Knapp, Kristopher, Logan (Tori) and Mylz Rollins, David, Daniel (Lisa), Kaylynn, Kristi, Victoria and Dominic Koehnke, Kaleb Johnson, Carly, Alyssa, Lindsey, Jake, Waylon and Samantha Robertson.  Four great-grandchildren; Elliot and Maddex Knapp, Gracelynn and Wesley Trapp, four brothers; Bud (Mary Kay) Koehnke of Green Bay, WI, Kenny (Mary Ann) Koehnke, Richard (Diane) Koehnke and Rob (Debbie) Koehnke all of Burlington, WI, one sister June (Ron) Winkelman of Tomah, WI and by a host of other relative and friends.  Donald was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Nicholas Phillip Louis Simons.  Services will be 4:00 pm Tuesday April 26, 2016 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI with Rev. Laura McLeod officiating.  Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 pm until time of services.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.  On-line guestbook is at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.
