Fr. James Robert Stajkowski, M.S., age 70, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Hampton Manor Assisted Living surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 7, 1946 in Bay City, MI to Floyd and Virginia (Marciniak) Stajkowski. Fr. “Jim” attended St. Hedwig’s Grade School in Bay City, MI and then entered the LaSalette Missionaries High School Seminary in Olivet, IL. he made his religious vows with LaSalette Missionaries in 1967 at Hartford, CT. He attended the LaSalette College in Altamont, NY and Merrimack College in Andover, MA. He completed his Theology at the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. Fr. Jim was ordained a priest in 1973.
Fr. Jim’s almost 50 years in religious life were a variety of ministries: Vocation Director (1973-1974), Parish ministry at Beausejour, Manitoba, Canada (1974-1981), Retreat Director at Olivet, IL (1981-1994). He held Leadership roles with the LaSalette Missionaries: Provincial (1994-2000) and General Administration in Rome, Italy (2000-2006). His last assignment was Shrine ministry at the LaSalette Shrine in Twin Lakes, WI (2006-2016).
Even though his health was failing, Fr. Jim participated in all Shrine events and contributed fully to community religious life. His priorities during his entire life were his commitments to his religious community and service to God’s people.
Fr. Jim is survived by: His mother, Virginia, a sister, Carol Bence; three brothers, Dan (Judy) Rick (Sandy), Tim (Cathy) Stajkowski and many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday August 3, 2017 at 11:00AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 701 N. Lake Ave. Twin Lakes, WI. Friends may call at the church from 9:00AM until the time of Mass. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers. Funeral Home of Twin Lakes is serving the Stajkowski Family.
