JEROME (SZELMECZKI) SCHELL, 84

Jerome Casimir Schell passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin. Jerry was born February 2, 1933 to Harry and Anna Szelmeczki in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest of 3 children. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1951.

Jerry served in the Navy as a Corpsman on the hospital ship USS Consultation during the Korean War. He met his beautiful bride, Patricia Frances Martin, in Milwaukee and they married in 1959. They raised four children.

After his assignment in the armed services, Jerry began a long career in industrial cleaning product & chemical sales, moving to the California Bay Area in 1967. Jerry loved to spend time with his family, friends, & church community. He was actively involved in golf, youth sports, and volunteered his time at various local community organizations, including St Raymond's Church, the VFW and Moose Lodge. He was one of the longest inducted members of the Milwaukee Groundhog Club.  Jerry also was an avid story teller and loved spending time with people.

Jerry is survived by his children David (Nina), Daniel (Cheryl),Doug (Colleen), and Karin (Steve Marcus); grandchildren Chris, Brittney, LaBella, Pat, Abby, Lauren, Pat, Natalie and Evan; siblings Mary Ann Roth and Tom Szelmeczki; and nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Anna Szelmeczki and his beloved Patricia.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful nursing staff and community at King Veterans Home, where Jerry was loved and cared for.

Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, October 9, 2017 at St. Bruno Catholic Parish 226 W. Ottawa Ave. Dousman, WI  53118 with Father Dan Volkert officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 pm before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stoughton VFW post # 328 200 Veterans Rd, Stoughton  WI. 53589.
