John “Jack” J. Luebke, age 92, of Elkhorn, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. John was born on March 26, 1923, in Eagle, WI, the son of Benjamin and Jeannette Luebke. He graduated from Waukesha High School before entering the military. John married Audrey Wightman on September 20, 1947, in Elkhorn, WI, and they have made Elkhorn their home ever since. John was a Postal Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn and a Mason of the Free and Accepted Masons. He also belonged to the National Letter Carriers Association and was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps in the 490th Bombardment Squadron/Burma Bridge Busters/China-Burma-India Theater. John was a member of the Honor Flight on May 14th, 2011, and was proud to be a Decorated War Veteran. John loved hunting and woodworking, and loved camping vacations, but most of all; he loved spending time with his family. John is survived by his wife, Audrey; sister-in-law, Yvonne Adsit; Nieces & Nephew; Cheryll (Ted) Jansen, Michele (Jeff) Kilpin, Sharman (Dennis) Toomey, Brett (Sandy) Adsit, Dennise (Doug) Pierce, Edie (John) Brogan, Cori (Tom) Brogan, Kathy Maynard; and by many other nieces and nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Jeannette Luebke; brother, Royal Luebke; sister, Lillian Luebke; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Adsit and Charles Wightman Jr.; and nephew, Keith Adsit.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Elkhorn, WI, at 1:00 pm officiated by Rev. Dr. Lamarr Gibson. A visitation will be held before the service from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Elkhorn is assisting the family.
