Leland E Stohr

Leland E. Stohr, age 93, of Twin Lakes, WI, died Tuesday evening August 9, 2016 at the Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington.

Leland Elmer Stohr was born on July 23, 1923 in Twin Lakes, WI, the son of the late Elmer and Florence Thompson Stohr.  On September 7, 1943 in Lake Geneva, WI, Leland was united in marriage to Bernelda Clausen.  She preceded him in death on May 31, 2001.  On September 20, 2001 in Indiana, Leland was united in marriage to Violeta Sarnausriene.  Leland has been a lifelong resident of Twin Lakes, where he farmed the Maple Leaf Farms for many years.  He also owned and operated Lake Area Builders.  He also sold seed corn and insurance for Southeast Mutual Insurance Co.

Leland was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Slades Corners.  He was a member of the Twin Lakes Area Chamber and Business Assoc. and a founder and Trustee of the Twin Lakes State Bank  Board.  He enjoyed traveling and doing crossword puzzles.

Leland is survived by: His wife Violeta; 1 daughter-Elaine McMillin of Burlington, WI; 2 sons-Danny (Claudette) Stohr of Twin Lakes, WI and John (Julie) Stohr of Twin Lakes, WI; a daughter in law-Sheila Stohr of Florida; 15 grandchildren, 17 gr. Grandchildren and 2 gr. Gr. Grandchildren; 1 sister-Lois Richards of Barrington,IL.

He was preceded in death by a son-Charles Stohr; Sister-Beth Oberton and a son in law-Rudy McMillin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday August 12, 2016 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 39506 60th St. Burlington, WI (Slades Corners) with Pastor Jeffrey Halldorson officiating.  Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.  The Stohr Family will receive friends Friday from 12:00PM until the time of services at the Church.  Memorial remembrances may be made to the Twin Lakes Rescue Squad 236 E.
