Robert Donald Katzenberg, age 82, of Marshfield, WI and formerly of Genoa City, WI, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his family’s home in Marshfield, WI.
Robert was born January 17, 1934, the son of the late Lyall and Marguerite “Peggy” Bongart Katzenberg in Elkhorn, WI. On February 14, 1953, Robert was united in marriage to Jeanette Zastrow in Pell Lake, WI. Robert and Jeanette were married for 63 years.
Robert was a member of the Saint Pauls UCC in Marshfield, WI for four years and previously an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Genoa City for 50 years.
Robert loved to bird watch and knew how to imitate many local bird calls. When he was younger, one of Robert’s favorite hobbies was working on race cars. As he grew older watching NASCAR was a favorite past time. He loved to dance-especially the polka, tell jokes, laugh, but most of all he loved his family.
Robert is survived by: His wife, Jeanette; children, Bradley (Seely) of Marshfield, WI, Mark (Liane) of Genoa City, WI, Brenda (Tom) Ruenz of Genoa City, WI and Dianne (Wallace) Swanson of San Tan Valley, AZ; a brother, Richard Katzenberg of Delavan, WI; 8 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; Lyall and Peggy as well as siblings, Warren and Ronald.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 624 Park St. Genoa City with a luncheon to follow.
