Roger Curtis Earle, age 84, passed away Aug. 26, 2015 at Holton Manor Nursing Home, Elkhorn, WI after having quadruble bypass surgery a year earlier. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Harley Oliver and Marion Althea (Taylor) Earle. He went to Whitewater High School and married Marlene Wilken on March 17, 1951. They had two children Karen and Ken, but Marlene died during childbirth. He married Joanne Zurkowski May 14, 1955 and they had seven children.
Roger was a 4-H and FFA member, on the Prom Court in high school, and played trombone in the Palmyra Community Band and the Whitewater City Band.
He managed a chicken farm from 1949 to 1952; hauled milk for Miller’s for 10 years, worked at Amron Corp for 22 years. He started his own business of small engine repair and sales in 1965, operating Roger’s Rural Repair in Whitewater, then Elkhorn Power Center in Elkhorn through June 2014 when heart surgery forced him to retire.
Roger is survived by his children: Ken (Robin) Earle, Karen Tatge, Lynn Greene, Bob (Sue) Earle, Terry (Denise) Earle, Tom (Theresa) Earle, Amy (Eugene) Johnson, and Nancy Earle; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife Joanne, his last born son, John Charles Earle, and his brother Thane Earle.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m, Wednesday, Sept. 2 at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 2, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 107 W. Walworth St. Elkhorn, WI with Father Oriol Regales officiating.
