Alex J. Smith

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alex J. Smith, aged 85, of Elkhorn, WI, who peacefully departed from this world on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Ridgestone Terrace. Alex was born on September 5, 1938, to the late Alfred and Marie (Baumeister) Smith.

Alex led a full life marked by hard work, dedication, and a love for his family and his farm. He spent many years employed at American Motors while simultaneously tending to the land he cherished dearly. The farm was his sanctuary, where he found solace and joy in the daily tasks of tending, tinkering and cultivating the land.  Beyond the farm, Alex found joy in square dancing and traveling to various dance locations and meeting new people. 

Alex is survived by his two loving children, Gary (Christie) Smith of Oregon and Gaye (David) Gilbert of Idaho, as well as his three wonderful grandchildren: Reece Gilbert, Hannah Roberts (Michael), and Sydney Gilbert. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Skilling, of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice Twing.
