Edward "Ed" Robers Obituary

It is with sad hearts, that we say goodbye to:

Edward J. Robers, age 77 of Elkhorn, WI died on Friday April 19, 2024 with his wife by his side.  Ed was born on September 24, 1946 in Elkhorn, WI; son of the late Elmer and Violet (James) Robers, and the first of four boys.  Ed graduated in 1964, only missing one day of school the whole time he went.  Ed married Jeanne R. Stearns on October 14, 1967, their happy and loving marriage produced two sons, Christopher and Matthew.  Ed was a very proud and active father; and even prouder to become G-Pa to three beautiful granddaughters.  Ed began his career at A.O. Smith, and then onto General Motors where he worked for 36 ½ years, retiring in 2002.  After working on the line at GM he became an apprentice and became a steam and pipe fitter and continued to work at GM in his new role.  Ed was proud to serve in the National Guard for 11 years as a medic; he made many long-term friendships during his time in the service.  Ed was a very caring man; he loved his family dearly, especially his granddaughters.  In his school years, Ed was very musically talented and active in band throughout school.  A little later on, he was active in softball and basketball, and flag football in various leagues near his home.  Among all of those things, Ed loved tending to his yard, and he was an enthusiastic outdoorsman; taking many hunting trips, including hunting for bears.  On simpler outdoor activities, he enjoyed hiking or fishing with his granddaughters.  Ed was always known for his jokes, and would never fail to surprise the people around him with a one liner.  Ed is preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Ernie his twin, and Ken; and beloved granddaughter; Haley.  Ed is survived by his loving wife Jeanne; children; Christopher Robers, Matthew Robers; brother Dave (Norma) Robers; granddaughters; Amanda, Elizabeth; sister-in-law; Kay Robers; honorary daughter otherwise known as dark haired daughter; Elsie; and honorary family; Angela, Tim, Zoe, and Alek and their families.  A Funeral Service will be held at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI on Wednesday April 24, 2024 at 12:00 Noon officiated by Pastor Tom De Groot.  Visitation will take place before the funeral beginning at 10:00AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ed’s name to The Elkhorn Food Pantry 14 W.
