Barbara Ellen Calkins

Barbara E. Calkins, age 58, of Twin Lakes, WI, passed away on Thursday afternoon, October 11, 2018 at her home.

The former Barbara Ellen Dawley was born on October 8, 1960 in Burlington, WI, the daughter of the late Donald and Ione A. Smetana Dawley.  On July 25, 1980 in Twin Lakes, WI, Barbara was united in marriage to Thomas A. Calkins.  Barbara has been a lifelong resident of the Twin Lakes area.

Barbara and her husband Tom, owned and operated House Doctor in Twin Lakes and helped many people in the Kenosha and Racine area.  She was a founding member and Chairman of the Board of Lakes Area Community Assoc. in Twin Lakes.  She was a member of the Twin Lakes Area Chamber and Business Assoc.  She ran a youth pool league for 10 years in Twin Lakes.  She was a member and chairman of the Twin Lakes Park Board for many years and involved in activities at Lakewood School for kids.  Barbara fostered many animals for many years.

Barbara is survived by:  Her husband, Thomas; her children, Cali (Bob) Tierney of Columbus, OH, Thomas A. (Julia Wirch) Calkins, III of Twin Lakes, WI, David (Steph) Calkins of Charleston, SC, Christopher Calkins of Twin Lakes, WI, Jenny Calkins of Lake Geneva, WI and Lacy Kirwan of Twin Lakes, WI; 10 grandchildren, Crystal Schmit, Alex Kirwan, Christopher Kirwan, Scotty Calkins, Isiah Calkins, Katie Calkins, Henri Calkins, Charlie Calkins, Lian Tierney and Gus Calkins; 1 great grandchild, Abel; Siblings, Mary Rozell of Lakeland, CO, Bryan (Mary Beth) Dawley of Powers Lake, WI, Christopher (Donna) Dawley of Wheatland, WI, Corey (Ann) Dawley of Paddock Lake, WI, Jon (Angel) Dawley of Burlington, WI, Nanette Dawley of Wheatland, WI and Brenda (Tom) Rummell of Buffalo, NY.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, David and Tim Dawley, a sister Linda Rose and 2 nephews, CJ Dawley and Jarron LeMay. 

A gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Horticultural Hall, 330 Broad St. Lake Geneva, WI on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 12:00PM until 4:00PM with a Celebration of Barbara’s life service at 1:00PM.  For online guestbook: haaselockwoodfhs.com.
