Carol A. (Betts) Katzman: 79, of Elkhorn, WI and Sanibel Island, FL, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 24, 2017 at her home. She was born May 17, 1938 in Watertown, WI, the daughter of the late H. Stanley and Catherine (Dennis) Betts. She graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1956. Carol was a graduate of the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN and also Racine School of Travel. Carol was united in marriage to Duane D. “Skip” Katzman on September 12, 1959, Skip died September 12, 2017. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn, WI where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on various committees and was also a member of the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ in Sanibel, FL. In 1958 Carol started working as a Medical Technologist at Lakeland Hospital and continued working for Dr. John Martin of Delavan, WI, retiring in 1984. Carol went on to own and operate Lakeland Travel of Elkhorn from 1985 to 1996. Carol was a member of the Elkhorn Jr. Women’s Club and was involved with coordinating and fund-raising for the original Elkhorn Sunset Park Swimming Pool, she was also a member of the Elkhorn Chamber of Commerce, Bridge Club, and along with Skip was involved with the Walworth County Fair for over 40 years. Carol was an avid Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer Football fan, played piano, and enjoyed shelling. Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her two children: Steve (Debby) Katzman of Creston, IL and Kathryn (Scott) Loveless of Elkhorn, WI, four grandchildren: Mike and Lindsey Katzman, Cory and Carson Loveless, Three step-grandchildren: Noah, Zackere and Natalie, sister-in-law Wanda Katzman, a special niece Amy (Harvey) Betts-Cohen, great-niece Brooklyn Cohen, nephews Dean (Pat) Katzman and David Betts, and by a host of relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death twelve days earlier, by her loving husband of 58 years, Skip, brother and sister-in-law, James D. (Judith) Betts and nephew, Douglas Betts. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday October 3, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn 111 N. Broad Street Elkhorn, WI with Rev. Bill McBride officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will be private at German Settlement Cemetery East Troy, WI.
