Uncle Edwin and I go back many years from the family farm in Bensenville, IL., Elkhorn, and Honey Creek, WI. I was a bridesmaid for his Wedding in 1955. He was a Guardian Angel along with my parents (Clarence and Helen Runge) for the Fisher family of East Troy. In later years we had an annual get-together in Florida when he spent the winter with Peggy and family. We are so glad he is with the Lord and free of pain and suffering.

We are all feeling a little bit sad, we’ve lost our family patriarch. Together we have cried an ocean of tears. Grandpa would want us to know he's in a good place and dancing with Grandma in heaven. He is watching us all with a smile on his face. He raised such a beautiful and special family; as we have made him so proud. He loved and cared for us all so much.

And for all of us, be grateful, his life is now complete. Although he is gone, his spirit will live on in each one of us forever. He will never be forgotten. I feel so blessed and privileged to call him my Grandpa. For in my life, he played a special part. The memories I will treasure and keep close to my heart forever.

Thank you Lord, for blessing us with our one- of- a kind, humble and loving Grandpa. Take extra special care of our Grandpa, for he is very dear to us. Grandpa, if you are listening, say a prayer for us every day, just like you always did. Be sure to protect us and guide us on our way. We know when God called you, you had to go. Now when I look to the sky, I am looking for the brightest star. That will be you, Grandpa, looking down on all of us from afar. We already miss you so much and will always love you. You truly were one of a kind. I love you! XOXO

It's hard to put into words the pain one feels when losing such a man. To me Grandpa was more than a grandpa, he was one of my very best friends. He was very influential in molding me into who I am today. I consider myself fortunate for the years I had with him. But it's my Love and probably selfishness that wants more time. He is the reason I hunt, fish, and absolutely love the outdoors. Every fall I would hunt his farm and every night when I was done he left the light on for me so he could hear my stories. I will miss our conversations. I will miss his laugh. I will miss the noise he made when he blew his nose. I will miss his boyish grin, the love he had for my wife and kids, the silent times when it was just him and i together on his swing, his stories, is beer, his candy, his farm..........I will miss everything. There is no one like him and I preferred it that way. We had an unforgettable run and I will see him on the next round!

Grandpa Buddy was the most humble person I have ever known. Although he never wanted to be the center of attention somehow he always became the center of attention. He always brought a smile not only to my face but everyone around him with his boisterous greetings of “Hello Der” along with fancy handshakes and hops. Also, his random shout of “Yeah” trying to startle you while sitting on the swing drinking beer scared more than a few people. This truly was his favorite past time.

I had the great fortune of being able to live with Grandpa for about 2 years. It was during this time that I created memories and a true connection with him. We would go fishing at least once a week on the Lake off of County Road H and Country Side Lane. We would sit on the swing at the house and we would talk about random things. Like nature, life memories, childhood memories, Farming, would he change anything in his life, what he thought about the world, other people……..etc. These conversations truly changed my perspective in my life going forward.

It was at this time living with him I learned how humble he was. I realized how much LOVE he had for his Family and other people. He was always worried about everyone else, but never for himself. He was always spreading cheer, joy, and happiness to his kids and grandchildren. I can take solace in the LOVE he had because he has passed this trait onto his daughters Sue and Peggy. They too show an abundance of LOVE to their Family and this will remind me of Grandpa.

In life and now in death, Grandpa wouldn’t want us to focus on the sadness of his death. Instead, he would want us to appreciate the happiness in our lives, our future and most of all each other.

I Love you Grandpa Buddy

Not only was Grandpa buddy was the best person, grandpa, and father, he truly was an inspiration and true role model to me. He was always happy, joking around, and always laughing. He taught me the true meaning of enjoying life, being content and thankful for what you have and not what you want, and he lived everyday that way. I'll forever remember our secret handshakes, our personal greetings, "hello my lad", "hello der" and "yeah man", his scolding " yous dasent do that". I'll miss just sitting on the swing having a cold one and just talking about life. Grandpa buddy represents everything a man, a father, a grandapa, and just what a human being should stand for. I love him, I'll miss him, we all love him and we will all miss him. LOVE YOU GRANDPA

This is a man who will truly be missed! There are very few people out there who can honestly say that they lived by the morals that could make the entire world good. He touched all of our lives and impacted our lives equally but in different ways. He is the reason I love to fish and watch birds and really my overall connection with wildlife in general. It's crazy to think all the things that mean the world to me based on the long talks on a small boat 🚣 and on a swing with a beer. If you could measure someone's life worth based on the amount of time, advice, support, and love he gave everyone around him, and how much love is inside of all of us because of him..... I don't believe anyone could measure up, at least not in my eyes!

One of a kind.

Buddy was the best Grandpa anyone could ever want. I personally appreciate all he did for me. He taught me how to work hard and enjoy life. He's the reason I enjoy fishing, we spent many summer days out on the water. I always had fun spending time with him. He truly was a "buddy" to all who knew him. He will be missed by all of us.
