Elizabeth "Betty" R. (Booth) Martens

August 10, 1927 ~ June 28, 2018 (age 90)

Elizabeth “Betty” R. Martens of Mukwonago passed away on June 28, 2018 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, at the age of 90.  She was born on August 10, 1927 the daughter of the late John and Gwendolyn (Jones) Booth.  Betty married Alvin Martens on July 24, 1948 at her family homestead in Saylesville. Prior to teaching Betty received her teaching certificate from Racine and Kenosha in 1947. Her  teaching career started at a one room school For 2 1/2 years then went on to Muskego Elementary in 1955 teaching grades 1-3. She completed her undergraduate degree in education from Whitewater in 1962 while teaching.  She retired in 1987. After retirement she sewed dolls and other small items.  Mom loved to play games on the computer and especially getting together with friends to play Dominos. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Mukwonago and belonged to the Women's Fellowship of the Church, Retired Teachers and Red Hats.
Betty was loved and will be remembered by her children Rebecca “Becky” Krueger of Waukesha and Harold “Hal” (Mary) Martens of Hartland.  Cherished grandmother of Brian (Katherine) Holsclaw, Mark (Kelly) Holsclaw, Margaret Holsclaw, Keith (Linda) Martens, and Jennifer (Tom) Christiansen; great-grandmother to Tyrin, Nicholas, Ashton, Lucas, Andrew, Olivia, Langdon, and Everly; sister of Peter (Sharon) Booth; step-grandmother to Char (Gary) Jasinski, Deidre (John) Mead, and Renee (Greg) Grinker and their families; sister-in-law of Rosemary Booth.   Betty is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Missing his Mom is her beloved Bengie.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; son-in-law, Alan, brothers, Robert and Clifford “Buzz” booth; and sister, Kathryn Jueck. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church 231 Roberts Dr. Mukwonago, Wi  53149 on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 6:00 pm.  Visitation will at the church from 4:00 pm on Tuesday until the time of service.   Burial will at Oak Knoll Cemetery on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 10:00 am.  (Please meet at the cemetery). Our family appreciates the wonderful care she received at the Pewaukee and Mukwonago Cancer Center and Waukesha Memorial Hospital.  Thank you doctors, nurses, and staff.If you wish: Memorials to the church or charity of your choice, she donated to so many.
Mom loved all her family so much as we love her.
