John T. Cappos, age 91, of Spring Grove, IL, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 23, 2018 at Geneva Lake Manor in Lake Geneva, WI
John Thomas Cappos was born on January 23, 1927 in Princeton, BC, Canada, the son of the late Thomas John and Pauline John Anteropulou Cappos. On September 22, 1957 in Hegewisch, IL, John was united in marriage to Sina H. Beitner. They lived in Chicago, IL and Richmond, IL before moving to Spring Grove, IL in 1975.
John was a chef and owner and operator of John’s Restaurant and Avers Restaurant in Chicago, IL and Cappners Restaurant in Richmond, IL. He loved to cook and was a people person. He loved his dog, Caesar.
John is survived by: his wife Sina; 3 daughter’s, Dianna (Kevin) Gates of Genoa City, WI, Pauline (Lawrence) Anderson of Genoa City, WI, Christina (Benoit) Fliou of Highwood, IL and a son Thomas (Tammie Hester) Cappos of McHenry, IL; 8 grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Hammarstrom, Tyler, Jacob and Jordan Gates, Shian Hanus, Victoire and Josephine Fliou and 1 great grandchild, Malo Fliou Ledouble; a sister, Asimo (Pantelis) Miras of Athens, Greece and a brother, Andrew (Maria) Kappos of Orland Park, IL. John was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gus and Jim Cappos and a sister, Francis Golfis.
The Cappos Family will receive friends from 10:00AM until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00PM on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, W775 Geranium Rd. Pell Lake, WI (Corner of Highway 12 and Pell Lake Dr). Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Genoa City.
