Juanita Shepherd

Juanita Shepherd, age 87 of Burlington, WI, passed away at Geneva Lake Manor Senior Living Community, on November 25, 2019.

Juanita Shepherd was born on January 8, 1932 in Waynesville, SC, the daughter of Nolan and Mamie McZier. Juanita received her formal education in Evanston, Il. She worked for the State of Illinois, Industrial Commission, where she retired.

Juanita married Arthur James Lucy, and to this union one son was born, Averell Howard Lucy. Both preceded her in death. She married David Lee Shepherd on September 5, 1964. They proudly registered DA-954 on the license plate of each vehicle they owned. David also preceded her in death.

Juanita is survived by Spencer-grandson, Inez- sister, Michael- brother, Ada Jean-aunt and a host of other family and friends who loved her dearly.

Juanita united with the Lake Geneva United Methodist Church.  Juanita and David both were proud residents of the Lake Ivanhoe Community where they both were officers and mentors to all who lived in the area.  She also spent many years as a Volunteer at the Aurora Lakeland Medical center. All her community service work brought her great joy.

Juanita’s health began to fail her, after a short Hospital stay, Juanita was transferred to Geneva Manor Senior Living Community. Her “J” Team and family were preparing for her return home to continue receiving the quality care here on earth. But her Heavenly Father took the lead and said it’s time that I take control by giving you your eternal care.

Special thanks to her “J” Team, Mary (Cathie) McIntyre, Marty Harris, and Peter Baker. They never failed to be there for her in whatever capacity she needed. They have gone far beyond, neighbor and friends. They’re our extended family. Special thanks to the staff of Geneva Lake Manor, the staff provided quality care to Juanita. Juanita’s final journey was one of peace and preparation. She let us all know that she was ready to see the face of our God.

Juanita’s Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December 4, 2019 at 10:00 am with visitation from 9:00 am to service time at Lake Geneva United Methodist Church, 912 Geneva St. Lake Geneva, Wisc. 53147. Juanita will be buried at 1:30PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3100 Shermer Rd.  Northbrook, IL. 60062.
