Mr. Baker was such a kind man. He was my principle when I was at Central in the 1970's and always had a smile and a kind word. He will be missed.

Leo was one of a kind. He had an instinct for seeing which child needed a little extra attention at just the right time. My 3 children walked a little taller after Leo patted them on the back, gave a complement or played kickball. We moved to town the summer before our oldest son started kindergarten and registered him at Central. I was impressed on the first day of school when he remembered our son's name. It didn't take long to realize he knew all the children's names and their siblings and their parents. He comforted many a worried parent.
Working with Leo while I was on the Joint 1 School Board was a joy. I saw his professional side. He was always thinking of his students, his staff, his school. There were difficult times and stressful situations. Leo always looked for the positive outcome.
Leo was kind and tender and I will miss him.

Leo was a compassionate man and one who loved kids! He was my first principal as I began my teaching career in Lake Geneva. I have fond memories of him playing catch with the kids at recess! May God bless him and care for him now that he is forever in His hands.

Leo was such a wonderful person, we moved here in the 80's our oldest son was in the 5th grade which back then was very hard to make friends. Leo went out durning his recesses and played football with Ben for months
I will always be grateful for him to have taken time from his busy schedule to make sure one of his kids wasn't lonely.
Every time I saw him in town over the years he always took time to ask about all 3 of our kids by name
We will miss you Leo

Sincere condolences from Andy and Gary. We lived across the street from the Baker's Cabins in the 50's. Dick, Leo, Kenny, Andy and Gary were the original and only members of the "Blackhawk Club". We had many adventures together and they were the best of times growing up together. Many, many fond memories.

I am so sorry to hear of Leo's passing. He was such a great man to work for! He always thought of the kids first -whether they be students or others. I am so glad I had a chance to visit with him at the zoo in April.

Growing up we lived very near, separated by a dash across what was then Highway 12.

We got together rain or shine, muddy or frozen, to shoot baskets and play one on one.

We tried boxing a few times but even the big soft gloves didn't keep Leo from landing haymakers when he got mad - which was seldom

We commuted together to Whitewater, and on special occasions, we had a few beers together.

Leo, thank you for so many good memories!

Mo

I was a student at Denison from 1999-2003 and loved Mr. Baker so much. I was a pretty awkward kid and didn't have a ton of friends-- sometimes teased-- and he was always so, so kind to me. My condolences for his passing, and the world lost a beautiful soul.

Not sure what I'm going to do when things get tough and I just need someone to talk to. You have been there for me since I was a baby and then Patrick and I had our little ones and of course you were there for them. We are going to miss you so much and Ayden and Emi will always have their Uncle Leo in their hearts. Be at peace and know you meant so much to us. Love you always.
