Lucille Martha Rohner

August 22, 1918 ~ October 7, 2017 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Lucille M. Rohner, age 99, of Burlington, WI, passed away Saturday evening, October 7, 2017 at Arbor View Assisted Living.

Lucille was born on August 22, 1918, on the northwest side of Chicago, the daughter of the late Hiram and Elizabeth Glosch Barber.  She had 1 brother and 2 sisters.  Lucille has 2 daughters, 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  She absolutely adores her family.

Lucille grew up in Chicago and vacationed in Wisconsin.  She married Noel Rohner on October 11, 1936, and gave birth to Barbara and Karen.  During WWII, Noel served in the U.S. Navy, which resulted in Lucille and their children living off and on in California when Noel was in port. Lucille was a homemaker.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  She was also a caregiver later in life to her husband.  He preceded her in death in February of 1981.

After retirement, Lucille and Noel lived in Beaver, Arkansas on the White River in the Ozarks for approximately 14 years.  All of her family loved coming down to Beaver to do boating, swimming and family gatherings. She attended Calvary United Church of Christ in Twin Lakes, WI.  Her passions include visits from her family and all her precious grandchildren, and the family dogs.  She was an excellent cook and baker.  Her entire family enjoyed coming to her home and eating her delicious meals.  Her favorites were pot roast and pineapple upside down cake.

Lucille will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving, kind, joyful and optimistic person.  She was fiercely strong, loyal and independent.  Her family was extremely important to her. She was considered to be the matriarch and the “rock” of her family.   She was very charitable and giving, and lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it.  She leaves an incredible legacy behind for her family.

Lucille is survived by her two daughters, Barbara A. (Richard O.) Wahler of Twin Lakes, WI and Karen L. Neumann of Twin Lakes, WI; 7 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Vincent, 1 brother, George Barber and 2 sisters, Myrtle Barber Schwendinger and Betty Jane Nordstrom Locander.

A Celebration of Lucille’s Life will be held at a later date.  The Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes is serving the Rohner/Neuman/Wahler Families.
