Mary Louise (Olson) Johnson

Mary Louise Johnson, 91 of Elkhorn, WI, formerly of Madison, WI, passed away late Friday, February 9, 2018 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.  Mary was born in Racine to the late Paul “Ray” and Myrtle (nee: Griffith) Olson on November 15, 1926. Mary attended Washington Park High School, graduating in the class of 1943. She was united in marriage to Norman A. Johnson on May 31, 1947 in Racine.  They started their marriage in Racine later moving to Madison, where they owned and operated Lettercraft Press, a small printing company for 40 years.   For over 60 years, Mary and Norman enjoyed spending time at their family cabin in Eagle River, boating, walking, and enjoying the outdoors.  They were members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Madison and Blackhawk Country Club in Madison. Mary also volunteered with the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary for 37 years. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge with her numerous bridge clubs. 

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed by her two children; John (Connie) Johnson of Elkhorn, WI and Becky (Lori Elkins) Johnson of Bend, OR and four grandchildren: Hannah, Heidi, Jeff and Samantha.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Thomas Johnson and sister and brother-in law, Marjorie and Paul Lekas.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Elkhorn, with Pastor Gerry Peterson officiating.  Visitation will be 10:00AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.   Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, 700 South Park Street, Madison, WI 53715.
