Mary Georgine Osborn

April 15, 1921 ~ May 3, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old


Mary G. Osborn, age 96, of Delavan, WI and formerly of Genoa City, WI, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2017 at Ridgestone Village in Delavan, WI.

The former Mary Georgine Jones was born on April 15, 1921 in Iola, WI, the daughter of the late Frank and Nora Earl Jones.   Mary was united in marriage to William Edward Osborn on November 13, 1945 in San Francisco, CA.  William preceded her in death on November 4, 2005.  They moved from Twin Lakes, WI to Genoa City, WI in 1963 where they owned and operated Osborn Spiral Stairways for 40 years.

Mary attended schools in Ogdenburg and Stevens Point, WI.  She worked as a guard at Allis Chalmers during WWII and as a messenger at the Naval Air Base in Alameda, CA.  She also worked at Schuren’s Super Valu in Genoa City. 

Mary was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Genoa City where she was a member of the Bykota Circle.  The church was her life, doing dinners and making donuts.  She volunteered for the Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years   Mary enjoyed watching birds, going for walks and picking berries.  She also enjoyed quilting and refinishing furniture.

Mary is survived by:  2 children, Valerie (John) Lincoln of Delavan, WI and David (Patricia) Osborn of Sebastian, FL; 3 grandchildren, Melissa (Jake) Rankin, Tyler Gehrke and Brad (Jessica) Osborn; 4 great grandchildren, Colton and Hunter Rankin and Mason and Olivia Osborn; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Irma Schewe, Lenore Larson, Vivian Krause, Emma Engebrelson, Ann Myers, Ruth Allie, Norma Clark and Malcom Jones, and sisters in law, May Jones, Eva Osborn and Marguerite Colby.

A gathering of friends will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9:00AM until the Memorial service at 11:00AM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 624 Park Street, Genoa City, WI.  Inurnment will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery in Twin Lakes.  Memorial remembrances may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 624 Park St. Genoa City, WI 53128 or The Time is Now to Help, Box 1, Lake Geneva, WI. 53147.  For online guestbook: haaselockwoodfhs.com.  The Haase-Lockwood & Assoc.
