Dear Dawn,

You were and remain a treasure in Mom's and our lives. I don't think she ever could have adjusted to moving out of her home without your loving care.

Thank you for all you have done and do. We look forward to seeing you very much if you can come.

with loving regards,

Kris

Dear Jackie,

I remember you well. Thank you for your memories and condolences. Mom lived a long and blessed life. She and Dad personally picked out gifts for each employee each year...it was fun to help them.

I am one of a string of International Exchange Students who passed through the home of Irene and Phil Borre through their involvement with the Richmond Rotary Club.
When I arrived in the fall of 1975, Phil had passed away and both Kurtis and Kris were married and living away from home. I spent about four months with Irene and Mary Ellen. That short period has had the most enormous impact on my life.
Irene taught me many things. She inspired in me an appreciation of beautiful old, well crafted furniture and china. She taught me the importance of celebrating and 'making a fuss of' special events like birthdays and holidays. My children probably don't realize that my fascination with decorating our house for Christmas, came from her.
Most of all, she taught me a great deal about love and family and she gave me a precious sister.
Irene came to visit us in New Zealand in 1985, just before the birth of our first child and we have been fortunate to have been able to return to the United States and visit with her many times over the years. Our family and Mary Ellen and John's family are beautifully intertwined.
Kerry and I are deeply saddened that we will not be able to be there in June to celebrate Irene's life and to support her family.
We will be forever grateful to have had Mom Borre in our lives.

Oh my, the memories of your Mom. She was always such a gracious lady, full of energy and interested in everything and everyone. I most vividly remember the corner grocery store, the apartment over the store and the wonderful times so many of us "kids" had running through the alleys to each others houses during the days of summer. I also fondly remember the summer Irene got me involved helping her as she taught vacation Bible school. And let's not forget her sense of adventure and the calendar. Quite a LADY.

Barb,
I realized I had replied to your mom...thinking this was from her as Julie told me how hard it was to call your mom and deliver this news. As our parents with such deep and long ties, lose their friends one by one, it has to be unimaginably hard. Extend my sympathies to your mom in losing her friend.
