Norwin A. “Norm” Watson, age 93 of Lake Geneva, WI, died Wednesday morning, August 1, 2018 at Geneva Lake Manor.
Norwin Arl Watson was born on April 10, 1925 in Medford, WI, the son of the late Roberts Lawson and May Elsa Draeger Watson. On February 8, 1947 in Genoa City, WI, Norm was united in marriage to Gloria J. Hardy. They lived in Genoa City until moving to Lake Wales, Florida 28 years ago. They moved to Lake Geneva in April of this year.
Norm served in the U. S Army from October 25, 1943 until discharge on February 15, 1946. He served overseas in New Guinea and Luzon. He earned the Philippine Liberation Service Medal, the good conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal with two bronze stars.
Norm worked for the Producers and Consumers Coop in Genoa City and then as a lab technician at Morton Chemical (now Dow Chemical) in Ringwood, IL for 26 years retiring in 1986. Norm was a 74 year member of the Sponholtz-Deignan American Legion Post #183 in Genoa City. He was and member and Past President of the Brookwood School Board for 25 years, the Wisconsin State School Board Assoc, former member of the Genoa City Vol. Fire Dept and Secretary of the Genoa City Recreation Program. He was former President of the Morton Blenders for 25 years and President of the Natures Edge Community Assoc. in Florida. He was Mr. Fixit in Florida, always helping out neighbors of the subdivision. He was a diehard CUBS Fan and Green Bay Packer Fan.
Norm is survived by: His wife, Gloria; two children, Richard (Ginny) Watson of Lake Como, WI and Pamela (James) Michmershuizen of Byron, IL; 3 grandchildren, Richard (Dawn Robertson) Watson, Kathryn (David) Bachta and Kristina (Dan) Stanley; 5 great grandchildren, Cassandra Watson, Landon, Andrew and Reagan Bachta and Emmett Stanley; 2 sisters, Marcella Schuren and Mary Soby.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. (Bertha) Watson, Jr; 1 sister, Marjorie (Arnom) Rowe and 2 brother in laws, Richard Soby and Sid Schuren.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Hillside Cemetery in Genoa City.
