Verne E Borst

Verne E. Borst, age 81, of Harshaw, WI, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at his home under the care of Ministry Home Hospice.  Verne was born on April 21, 1937, in Maiden Rock, WI, to the late Willard and Olive (Horning) Borst.  He was married to Carolyn Jacobson on September 27, 1958, she survives.

Verne grew up in Pell Lake, WI, and graduated from high school in Lake Geneva, WI.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Later, Verne entered the workforce as a salesman for Veenstra Lumber & Supply Company in Kenosha, WI, where he worked for over 39 years.  He retired in 1999 and moved to Harshaw in 2005.  Verne enjoyed snowmobiling where he was a member of several snowmobile clubs including the Genasnowers Snowmobile Club, the Harshaw Wanderers, and the Northwoods Riders.  He loved being outdoors fishing, boating, and spending hours working in his yard.  Above all, Verne cherished time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his Wife of 60 years, Carolyn Borst, of Harshaw;

2 Sons, Mark (Sydney) Borst, of Lake Geneva, WI, Daniel (Aubrey) Borst, of Valparaiso, IN;

1 Daughter, Teresa (Evan) Freund, of Genoa City, WI;

2 Sisters-in-Law, Lois Borst, of Woodruff, WI, and Shirley Borst, of Pell Lake;

1 Brother-in-Law, Richard Jacobson, of Spring Grove, IL.

Verne is further survived by 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an Infant Daughter; his Parents; 5 Brothers; and 1 Sister.

A Celebration of Life Visitation for Verne Borst will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Generations Funeral Home in Tomahawk.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.  

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 2:00 PM, at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home in Twin Lakes, WI.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of services at 2:00 PM.  Interment will be at the Mound Prairie Cemetery in Twin Lakes.  Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.  You may view Verne’s obituary and leave online condolences at generationsfuneral.com.
