Alice Jean Fairchild

Alice J. Fairchild age 96 of Lake Geneva, WI died at Mercy Walworth Hospital on October 27, 2026. Alice was born on March 27, 1930, in Elkhorn, WI, daughter of the late Paul and Nellie (Slattery) Zabel. In 1948, she graduated from Elkhorn High School where she then went to work as a telephone operator for the next 10 years. Alice met her husband Gordon at a dance. After one dance together, Gordon told his friend that Alice was the girl he was going to marry. Alice and Gordon were married in Elkhorn, WI on August 29, 1953. Together they bought a dairy farm in 1969 and ran it together. That same farm was recognized in the 150-year Sesquicentennial Farm Award in Wisconsin this past year. Alice had a deep love for the farm that her and her husband owned together.

Alice is survived by her children; Margie (Don) Pellmann, Carol (Mike) Long, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Gordon; her parents; beloved Aunt May Slattery; sisters; Ruth Kuhnle, Mary Rebenstorf; favorite cat Nickodemius; and favorite dog; King.

Alice will be laid to rest next to Gordon privately in Dunbar Cemetery in Geneva Township.
