Obituary

Arthur "Art" J. Sax, 82 of Elkhorn, WI died Monday March 6, 2023 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center.  He was born July 16, 1940 in Elkhorn, WI the son of the late James A. and Sylvia V. (Piek) Sax.  He graduated from Elkhorn High School with the Class of 1958.  On September 24, 1960 he was united in marriage to Karen L. Kehl.   Art worked for the National Food Store from 1956 until 1969 starting in produce and became manager. From 1969 to 1986 he worked with his dad at James Sax Trucking.  Then from 1986 until 2003 he owned and operated the Towne House Restaurant.  After selling the restaurant Art worked for Frank's Piggly Wiggly from 2012 to 2017.  He also worked at various businesses including, First Banking Center, Tasch Automotive, Michael Todd's Dry Cleaners. Art was born to work; but was forced to retire in December of 2017 due to ill health.  Over the years Art was active with the Elkhorn Fire Department from 1964 until 1982 serving as Captain,  He served as City of Elkhorn Alderman for two terms, member of the Elkhorn Lion's Club and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Delavan.  He enjoyed hunting with his son Steve and loved riding his Harley.  His greatest love was his family.  Art is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Karen, Four Children: Donna (Rick Lofy) Kudick of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Julie Strait of Elkhorn, WI, Steve (Angie) Sax of Elkhorn, WI and Diane (Jeff) Aranda of Fox Point, WI.  Nine grandchildren: Ashley (David) Zuberbier, Josh (Kait Daehn) Kudick, Megan (Ehen) Aponte, Kyle Strait, Mackenzie Sax, Allison Sax, Mitch Sax, Alex Aranda and Adyson Aranda. Three step-grandchildren: Adam Lofy, Elisha Nanney and Rachel Fillebrown.  Two great-grandchildren: Bentley and Kayleigh. One sister Joyce Conroy of Califorina and by a host of other relatives and friends.  Art was preceded in death by his son-in-law Michael Strait and his brother Ronald (Pamela) Sax.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a service at Noon Saturday March 18, 2023 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 416 W Geneva Street Delavan, WI.  On-line guestbook is at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  Arrangements completed by Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory of Elkhorn, WI.
