Obituary

Benjamin Davis Ulrich, 85, of Burlington, Wisconsin, passed away on April 4, 2025, at home.

Ben was born in rural South Carolina, where he developed a deep appreciation for adventure and hard work. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Captain and flying the F-105 aircraft. After retiring from the Air Force, Ben continued his passion for aviation as a pilot for United Airlines, where he eventually retired as a Captain for the DC-10.

Beyond his career, Ben had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying golfing, fishing, and gardening. He cherished time with his family and took great pride in hosting holiday gatherings at his property in Wisconsin. He and his wife, Val, spent many wonderful winters in Arizona, where they embraced an active lifestyle filled with tennis, hiking, biking, and playing cards with friends.

Ben was known for his willingness to help anyone--friend or stranger alike. He will be fondly remembered for his sharp wit, mischievous grin, and warm heart.

Ben is survived by his beloved spouse, Valerie; his children, Ronica (Gerry), Lisa, Todd, Laura, Kim, and Robin; and his siblings, Kathy, Alan, and Barbara. He was also cherished by his grandchildren, Amanda, Julie (Alex), Michael (Maggie), Trevor (Meredith), Wade (Eva), Katie, Grace, Luke, and Lilly.

He is now reunited with those who went before him - his brother, George; his sons, Jon, Joe, and Ben Jr., and his grandchildren, Adam and Ashley.

Ben lived fully, laughed often, and never turned down a good adventure. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and talked about at family gatherings for years to come.

A celebration of Ben's life will be held in the near future. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes, WI, is honored to serve the Ulrich family.
