Elkhorn: Bernadine I. Henningfield age 89 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center on Saturday April 26, 2014, surrounded by her family. Bernie was born on January 5, 1925, daughter of the late Alex and Mary Baumeister. Bernie was married to her husband Louie at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Burlington on November 27, 1943 until his death in 2012. Bernie was born and raised on her parents dairy farm. She lived in the Elkhorn and Burlington area all her life. She belonged to the Elkhorn and Lake Geneva Seniors. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, and playing cards. She also was a riveter during the war with J. I. Case, and helped assemble wings for B-26 bombers. Bernie cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by them. Bernie is preceded in death by her husband, Louie; Daughter, Sharon; and three grandsons. Bernie is survived by her three children, Wayne (Melinda) Henningfield of Medford, Oregon; Steve (Bonnie) Henningfield of Madison; and Betty (John) Coates of Stevens Point; seven grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank VNA Hospice and all the staff at Lakeland Medical Center for the care and comfort they provided Bernie. Private family services will be held for Bernie at a later date.
