Betty Ann Ratchek: aka: Biz, MOM, Betty Boop, Miss Betty, Lunch Lady, Gram, ets passed away on Monday May 19, 2014 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Betty was born in Chicago, IL to Alice (Hassel) and Paul Rosentreter. Her older brother, Walter Rosentreter preceded her in death. After enjoying the farming life in the Burlington area and a stint in California, the Rosentreter family eventually settled in Silver Lake, WI.
One fine day in 7th grade, Betty met Jim Ratchek at Twin Lakes Rollin Wheels Rollar Rink which was the beginning of a 50+ year romance. After rocking through Wilmot High School, Jim being somewhat of an athlete and king of various dances beside Betty; the cheerleader and his chosen queen, they married in Wilmot, WI on Sept. 8, 1962. Betty and Jim resided in the Twin Lakes area, where they raised 2 lovely daughters; Rene' Ratchek and Andrea (Michael) Stanek. Their mother taught them how to cook, how to be strong willed and to laugh hard.
Betty was known for her famous sneeze; the loudest ever and her snort during a good hard laugh.
She took great pride in her lawn and flower gardens, her raspberry and blackberry homemade jellies and her granddaughters; Brielle, Reed and McKenna Stanek. She loved noodles of all kinds, her pet barn swallows, motorcycle trips, Jamaica, weekends in Tomah, mowing the lawn, randomly tying the shoes of little kids whose shoes were untied, canoeing on the Kickapoo River, having fun and the warmth of sun.
Betty dedicated over 30 years to Wilmot High School wher she left lifelong impressions on those she worked with, took care of and fed.
Friends may celebrate (and we MEAN " CELEBRATE") Betty's LIFE on Wednesday, May 28 at Driftwoods Restaurant in Twin Lakes, WI from 6pm -9pm. *NO BLACK ATTIRE ALLOWED* Bring your laughter, your memories and your love.
