Beverly J. Freitag (nee Sommer), lifelong resident of Elkhorn, WI, age 94, was called home to the Lord on June 29, 2024. Daughter of the late Paul and Mildred (Lean) Sommer, Beverly was born on December 6, 1929, in Elkhorn. On September 13, 1952, Beverly was united in marriage to Edward W. Freitag, who preceded her in death on December 8, 2000. During her life, Beverly held several jobs including over 30 years working at the Lakeland Bakery in Elkhorn up until the age of 82. She was an active, lifelong member of The First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elkhorn, where she taught Sunday School and was the president of the Ladies Aide group for about 30 years.  Beverly was exceptionally dedicated to her church and her faith, living a life of service to others. She was kind, generous, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She spent countless hours crocheting blankets and hats for friends, family, her church community, and for missionaries and servicemen overseas. Beverly was an avid bowler for over 40 years, even participating in leagues. She was a member of the Walworth County Cloggers and performed at the Walworth County Fair for many years. In her free time, Beverly enjoyed gardening and cultivating beautiful flowers, restoring antiques and furniture with her husband, and spending time with beloved friends and family. Beverly will be remembered by those who loved her as a wonderful woman—joyful, independent, and full of love and faith.

Beverly is survived by her children, Richard (Vicki Demski) Freitag, Wanda (Emil) Arens, and Wendy (Todd Naber) Freitag; grandchildren, Nikki (Matt) Goeb, Mark (Janice) Freitag, Brad (Andrea) Freitag, and Luke (Samantha) Merker; great-grandchildren, Megan, Cameron, Taylor, Brad, Jameson, Lainey, Laela, Lucas, and Addison; as well as special niece and nephew, Lori and Greg, who spent so much time with Beverly.

In death, she is reunited with her husband of 48 years, Edward Freitag; baby son, William Freitag; father Paul Sommer; mother, Mildred Desing; step-father, John Desing; and siblings, Betty Reynolds, Erna Mae Stearns, Beatrice Aldrich, Mildred Williams, Wilford Sommer, and Willis Sommer.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 415 Devendorf St., Elkhorn, WI 53121. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the service.
