Carl Grayson "Matt" Matthews, 87 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center. He was born October 5, 1935, in Samson County, North Carolina, the son of the late Radford Carl and Gladys (Williams) Matthews. Matt graduated from Hoke County High School with the Class of 1955. He served in the United States Air Force. Matt was united in marriage to Carol Mae Welch on January 16, 1960. He worked for Sturgis Newport Printing in Whitewater for 30 years, then he went on to Advance Fitting in Elkhorn. In his retirement, Matt enjoyed driving for V.I.P. Services. Matt was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Matt is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol, their two sons: Dan Matthews and Don (Michelle) Matthews, six grandchildren: Christopher, Amy (Dan), Dustin, Anna, Brett (Stephanie), and Sean, and one great-grandchild, Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn (Irwin) Wilkes.
Memorial Service will be 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI. The visitation will be from 10:00AM on Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow services at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
