Carol will be remembered for her years of faithful work, her enjoyment of life’s familiar pleasures, and the love she shared with her family.
Carol J. Windau, née Neuhaus, of Genoa City, Wisconsin, passed away on August 30, 2026, in Genoa City at the age of 89. She was born on December 27, 1936, in Curtiss, Wisconsin.
Carol built a long and respected career at Citizens State Bank in Genoa City, where she worked for 27 years and rose to become Vice President of the bank. Her dedication and steady presence left a lasting impression on those who knew her through her work and throughout the community.
On September 25, 1954, she married Milton Windau, beginning a marriage that remained an important part of her life. Milton preceded her in death on February 20, 2020.
Carol found joy in the simple pleasures that brought color and warmth to everyday life. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, bingo, and scratch off tickets, and she was a member of the Genoa City Garden Club. She was also a devoted fan of Chicago Cubs. Carol especially loved collecting earrings, purses, and clothes, embracing the things that made life feel lively and personal.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Jerry) Jarvis and Karen (Tim) Batdorff; ; by her sister, Margaret Smith; and by her sister-in-law, Beverly Earhart, widow of the late Paul Earhart. She is she is survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Windau; her father, Henry Neuhaus; and her mother, Hedwig Trester. She was one of thirteen children who have preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held on September 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Haase Lockwood Funeral Homes and Crematory, 113 Freeman Street, Genoa City, Wisconsin. A funeral service will follow there at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery- Genoa City, Wisconsin.
Carol will be remembered for her years of faithful work, her enjoyment of life’s familiar pleasures, and the love she shared with her family. Her memory will remain a treasured part of the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.
