Obituary

Cheryl Lea (née Kull) Sullivan, age 75, of Lake Geneva, WI, passed on with her loving husband and daughter by her side on Monday, March 31, 2025. Daughter of the late David and Nola (née Fugett) Kull, Cheryl was born on July 4, 1949, in Burlington, WI. Cheryl was a nurse by trade, displaying kindness and generosity of spirit by caring for people. She spent most of her career as a nurse at the hospital and clinic in Burlington, and the Lake Geneva clinic, and even met her husband, Thomas M. Sullivan, in the clinic. They were married on April 24, 2010.

Cheryl's most important job, however, was that of a mother. She was an extraordinary mom who, despite life's challenges and hardships, always found a way to bring joy, laughter, and fun to her daughter's life. Michelle fondly remembers singing and dancing in the living room with her mom and working on countless puzzles together throughout the winter. She taught her the importance of resilience, sacrifice, and love.

Cheryl was a gifted singer all throughout her life, singing in church choirs and instilling a deep love for music in her daughter. She loved rock music, fast cars and motorcycles. She belonged to the Genoa City American Legion Post 183 along with her husband, a Vietnam veteran. Cheryl was a proud member of the Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard, a non-profit group of volunteers who ensure dignity and respect at funerals for active-duty military heroes, veterans, and first responders, as well as supporting their families. Cheryl's riding name was "Raven," a symbol of protection and caregiving. Cheryl also took great pride in her Cherokee heritage.

Being outdoors was Cheryl's favorite way to spend time, whether gardening, doing yard work, or enjoying her morning coffee on the porch.  She also enjoyed rooting for the Brewers and the Bears, and doing Taekwondo, in which she earned a second-degree black belt. Cheryl had a great sense of humor and was known for "telling it like it was," never holding back from expressing what was on her mind. She may be gone from this world, but her spirit, humor, and love will continue to uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of nearly 15 years, Tom Sullivan; daughter, Michelle (Andy) Sikich; stepchildren, Christina (Duane) Reh and Tom (Amanda) Sullivan; 8 step-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Abby.

In death, she is reunited with her parents, David and Nola Kull; sisters, Betty (née Kull) Pihringer and Nancy (née Kull) Maronda; and brother, Denis Kull.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 1:00PM at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 113 Freeman St., Genoa City, WI, 53128. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until the service at 1:00PM, followed by a procession to Bloomfield Cemetery.
