IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel J.
"Doosh" Duchemin
March 14, 1964 – November 21, 2024
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel "Doosh" Duchemin, 60, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. Dan courageously fought cancer with strength and grace, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the community he called home. He died peacefully, surrounded by his wife and daughters, on November 21, 2024. Born on March 14, 1964, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dan was a 1982 graduate of Elkhorn Area High School who married his high school sweetheart, Laura Peters, on October 1, 1983. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories that are now etched in the hearts of those who knew them.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Laura, of 41 years, his cherished daughters Ashley Duchemin and Heather (Mike) Warren and his three grandchildren, Colton, Julia, and Hunter Warren. His family was his greatest pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to share his love and pride for them. Dan also leaves behind his loving mother, Bonnie Duchemin; sisters Dawn Hall and Aimee Duchemin (Ken Wiswell); nephew Alec Wiswell; and sisters-in-law Lesa (Ken) Reek and Shallece (Dheren) Stewart; mother-in-law, Ole Peters and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his father, William Duchemin Jr.; mother-in-law Linda Meyers Kelm; fathers-in-law Gerald Peters and Edward Kelm; his grandparents; and his beloved lab, Boeing Jett.
Dan dedicated over 40 years to his career, serving as Service Manager at both Tasch Chevrolet Buick GMC (30 years) and Kunes Auto Group's, Chevrolet GMC of Elkhorn (11 years). Known for his radiant smile and open heart, Dan was much more than a trusted professional—he was a friend and confidant to countless members of the Elkhorn community. His genuine kindness and willingness to go above and beyond touched the lives of all who walked through the doors, making him a true pillar in his community.
In addition to his career, Dan served as a volunteer firefighter with the Elkhorn Fire Department from 1987 to 1994, a role in which he demonstrated his unwavering commitment to helping others. His bravery and selflessness were felt deeply by those around him, and he left an enduring impact on the lives he protected and served.
A lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, Dan embraced life's simple pleasures—tailgating and grilling, golfing, riding his Harley, ice fishing, unforgettable trips to Las Vegas, and quality time with his close friends and family. His daughters and grandchildren were his greatest joy, especially his grandson Colton, with whom he shared special traditions, like playing "tad pulls" (pull tabs) at their favorite restaurant. Known for having the best smile around, Dan's warmth and humor lit up every room, and his kindness left a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dan's legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched in Elkhorn. A visitation, service, and celebration of Dan's life will be held at Lake Lawn Resort, Delavan, WI, in the Grand Ballroom on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with the service beginning at 3:00 PM and a celebration of life to follow immediately after.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at St. Croix Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Dan in his final weeks. Your support meant the world to him and to all of us. Dan's arrangements are under the care of Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Elkhorn, WI.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in his memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Wisconsin for Green Bay Packers, honoring Dan's love for his team and his commitment to giving back to others.
