David "Dave" A. Johnson age 78 of Elkhorn, WI died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday October 1, 2024. Dave was the son of the late P. Allan and Alva B. (Bergh) Johnson; born on June 14, 1946, in Elkhorn, WI. He grew up on his family's dairy farm and carried the tradition of farming into the 5th generation with his brother. They farmed together for over 50 years. Dave graduated from Delavan Darien High School in 1964 and St Olaf College in 1968. Dave married Sandra "Sandy" L. Cockfield at Sugar Creek Lutheran Church on November 28, 1987. They raised their son and enjoyed a wonderful marriage partnership through all that life gave them. Dave was a passionate and talented organist and pianist. Although he was an experienced musician, he was still taking piano lessons up until the time of his death. He was a lifelong member of Sugar Creek Lutheran Church where he was organist since high school. He had a passion for lifelong learning. In addition to his music lessons, he took online classes in various subjects to broaden his knowledge base. He was an advocate for restoring prairie land and interested in native wildflowers. He planted several flower beds in the yard with heirloom flowers and wildflowers. He was always tinkering and fixing things around the house and farm. He enjoyed listening to public radio, and took much interest in genealogy. He detested TV commercials and would always flip the channel when a commercial break would come on the air. Above all things, he deeply loved his grandchildren and his family, and he will be deeply missed by all of them. Dave is survived by his wife; Sandy; son; K. Christopher (Heather Rambow) Johnson; grandchildren; Brooklyn, Brayden, Bailey; siblings; Loren Johnson, Lois Johnson; nephews Brian (Hannah) Johnson, Bradley (Julia Pugachevsky) Johnson; and many other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will take place at Sugar Creek Lutheran Church N5690 Cobblestone Road Elkhorn, WI 53121 on Monday October 14, 2024, at 12 Noon. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at the church.
