Obituary

David A. Baker, 88, of Elkhorn, WI died Sunday, December 8th at Golden Years, Walworth, WI after a long illness. His family was at his bedside. He was born August 12, 1936 in Burlington, WI, the son of the late William H. And Ellen J. (Shultis) Baker. He was united in marriage on December 22, 1956 to Donna E. (Schulz) Baker at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elkhorn. Dave worked in farming, served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962, operated Baker Feed Service (on-the-farm feed grinding), and worked at Kikkoman Foods for over 16 years, retiring in 2001.  In retirement, Dave enjoyed maintaining his lawn and landscaping, collecting toy tractors, and spending time with his wife, family, and grandkids. He led by example, working hard, being attentive to details, and using his 'farm kid' skills to help others. He was a patient, reserved, and easy-going husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 68 years, Donna; son Mark (Donna) Baker (Spring Green, WI); son-in-law Patrick (JoAnn) Calliari (Wind Lake, WI); four grandchildren, Katy and Annie Baker, Ryan (Danielle) Calliari, and Jenna (Erik) Nowicki; three great-grandchildren Baker and Dilynn Calliari and Emery Nowicki; a sister, Jean (Harold) Kaeding (Waterford, WI); a brother, Paul (Sylvia) Baker (Elkhorn, WI); and sister-in-law Mary Baker (Elkhorn, WI), as well many nieces and nephews and long-time friends made over his 88 years, all in the Elkhorn/Delavan area. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kim (Baker) Calliari in 1990 and his brother Russell, both who he missed dearly.
