David Allen Gilbert: A Legacy of Family, Adventure, and Friendship
David Allen Gilbert, 58, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025. Born on March 3, 1967 in Two Rivers, WI to Wilbur "Bill" Elton Gilbert and Hazel Jean Gilbert, David grew up part of a close-knit family - his laughter, love and wit creating the foundation for his adventures in life and with his family. Dave spent his childhood making memories with his siblings and cousins (who were always right around the corner).
A devoted husband to Gaye Lynn Gilbert, whom he married on February 20, 1995, in the serene beauty of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, David spent 30 years crafting a life of love and adventure. Together, they ventured from Wisconsin to the shores of California to the welcoming valleys and vineyards of Idaho, building homes, forging lifelong friendships, and collecting memories along the way. David's adventurous spirit was unmatched—whether scuba diving, skiing, skydiving, zip-lining, or camping, he embraced life's thrills with open arms and an infectious grin.
As a father to Reece Gilbert, Hannah (Michael) Roberts, and Sydney Gilbert, and a doting grandfather to Emilia Roberts, David inspired his children to chase their dreams with courage and kindness. His legacy as a coach and mentor extended far beyond his family with his wisdom and generosity. A builder and real estate developer with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, David constructed not only homes but also character, weaving memories and friendships that will endure like the foundations he laid. David was often seen clothed in Green and Gold to show his unwavering support for the Green Bay Packers. Go Pack Go!
A master scuba diver and instructor, he found solace beneath the waves, especially at his cherished Kua Bay Beach in Hawaii, a place he visited in both body and mind. He treasured camping under star-filled skies, family trips brimming with laughter, and sharing bourbon with friends, each moment a toast to life. At Parma Ridge Winery, Dave found belonging in the family environment and loved to assist with serving wine (and smiles). He enjoyed wine with care, and his mastery of barbequing—his steaks and legendary tri-tips —created gatherings that will forever linger in the hearts of those who savored them. His favorite saying, "Memories Make Us Rich," was the anthem of his life, a reminder that love and experiences are life's truest treasures.
David is survived by his loving wife, Gaye; his children, Reece, Hannah (Michael), and Sydney; his granddaughter, Emilia; his parents, Wilbur "Bill" (Patricia); and his siblings, Mary (Jeff) Madson and Linda (Mike) Liebman. He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel Jean Gilbert and siblings, Randy Mayberry and Susan Gilbert.
