Dawn L. Walters, 62 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI.  She was born May 20, 1961, in Geneva, IL, the daughter of the late, Joseph and DeLoris (Kroning) Hitzemann.  Dawn was united in marriage to Steven G. Walter on December 23, 1996, in Elkhorn, WI.  She worked as chef at the Abbey Resort in Fontana for 16 years then at Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan for 23 years.   Dawn enjoyed collecting dolls, precious moments, teacups, angels and Hallmark ornaments.  She loved to be outdoors and camping throughout her life.  Dawn loved animals, especially her cats.  She loved being an aunt and cherished her time with her many nieces and nephews.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Steve, three siblings: Diana (Barry) Wintersteen, Debbie (Cliff) Beck, and Joe Hitzemann, parents-in-law. Gary and Kay Walters, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Service will be 12:00PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI.  Visitation will be 11:00AM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lakeland Animal Shelter.  Online guest book www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.
