Diane J. Firkus

Diane J. Firkus, 78, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 20, 1948, in Aberdeen, SD, the daughter of the late Frank and Phyllis (Warne) Kegley. Diane was united in marriage to Louis C. Firkus on July 2, 1966. Diane and Louis are members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn. Throughout her life, Diane enjoyed reading, attending book club, and going to plays and musicals. She loved to travel and cherished the many friendships she built over more than 50 years in Elkhorn. She especially treasured time spent with her coffee klatch, visiting with longtime friends, and meeting new people wherever she went.

Diane was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Diane was a dental hygienist for over 30 years and was dearly loved by all of her patients. Everyone who met Diane loved her, and she genuinely touched everyone’s lives in a loving way.

Diane is survived by her husband of 60 years, Louis Firkus, three children, Patty Firkus, Barbie Firkus, and Bill (Cristine) Firkus, five grandchildren, Louis (Erika) Zimmerle, Lauren (Kevin) Kirch, Raychl Hart, Kazimier Firkus, and William (Brianne Gies) Firkus, three great-grandchildren with one on the way, Alexa, Jaxon, and Aurora, and her sister, Susan (Warne) Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Penny Taylor and Ruth Ann Roe.

Visitation will be 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI, and 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 107 W. Walworth St. Elkhorn, WI. Funeral Mass will be 11:00AM on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aurora at Home Hospice, 116 N.
