Doris E Kunz

Doris E. Kunz, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose life was marked by God's gift of faith in salvation through Christ and her dedication to her family, entered into eternal blessedness on April 4, 2026, in Cary, Illinois, after many years of bravely facing health challenges. Born in Chicago, Illinois on May 30, 1940, Doris’s journey was defined by a passion for education, music, and heartfelt service to God and others.

A proud bearer of a degree in Education, Doris found deep purpose in her calling as a teacher, a journey that began as a student at Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois. She brought that same passion to her work as a church organist and choir director, where her efforts helped fill worship spaces with beauty and reverence. Doris was always ready to lend a helping hand, faithfully volunteering wherever her church needed her, reflecting her spirit of service to the Lord.

On May 2, 1970, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dolton, Illinois, Doris was united in marriage with Craig Kunz, a partnership that brought joy and steadfast companionship. Together, they were blessed with a loving family whose bonds were deeply cherished by Doris. She took immense pride in her role as a grandmother, delighting in every moment spent with Theodore, Samuel, Aidan, Sydney, Luke, Evan, William and Kieran.

Doris faced significant health challenges with remarkable strength and perseverance. After being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, she far exceeded expectations, living many years beyond a five-year prognosis. Throughout her life, she also endured and recovered from numerous surgeries, broken bones, and illnesses, meeting each obstacle with determination and resilience. God's promises and healing power through every trial in her life will be remembered with joy and gratitude. Our family is also deeply grateful to the many doctors, nurses, therapists, and aides whose compassionate care supported her along the way.

Doris is lovingly remembered by her husband, Craig Kunz; her children, Brent (Jill) Kunz, Laura (Brian) Gilleland, and Alison (Scott) Lyon; as well as by her brother and sisters-in-law, Sharon Mueller and Wayne (Yvonne) Kunz. Her life’s legacy is also tenderly held by her parents, Karl and Doris (Jennings) Mueller, and her brother, Carl Mueller, who predeceased her.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate her eternal life and honor the memory of God's blessings through her with a visitation on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 620 Legion Drive, Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. A funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 876 Lance Drive, Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. Burial to follow at Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Illinois.

Doris E. Kunz’s life is a harmonious testament to God's faithfulness, love, and dedication. Her memory will remain as a reminder of the resurrection hope and eternal blessings of all believers in Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or the Northwestern Memorial Foundation multiple myeloma program (https://www.nm.org/about-us/foundation/donations).
