Dorothy L. (Cannon) Melvin, 85 of South Elgin, IL formerly of Elkhorn, WI, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL.  She was born on September 4, 1930 in Perry, IA the daughter of Elvy and Esther Cannon.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Melvin on April 4, 1950 in Chicago, IL.  Kenneth preceded her in death on August 14, 2007.  Dorothy loved to read, solve jigsaw puzzles and look at Facebook on her Ipad.

Dorothy is survived by her loving son, Michael (Judith) Melvin, daughter-in-law, Pamela Melvin, four grandchildren; Brian (Elizabeth), Kevin, Keith (Amanda) and Sarah (Cory) Kramer, eight great-grandchildren, very special nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, son, Kenneth R., grandson, Kenneth E., her parents Elvy and Esther, step-mother, Bessie Cannon, brother Richard Cannon and sisters, Henrietta Hopkins and Maxine Fox.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 730 N Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI with Rev. Dr. Scott McLeod officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow services at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.  In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in Dorothy's name.  Arrangements for the Melvin Family were handled by Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home.  Online Guest Book at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.
