Douglas Edward Michaels, born on December 21, 1948, in Elmhurst, Illinois, passed away on February 2, 2026. The son of the late Samuel and Gertrude(Runge) Michaels. He was a dedicated operator for Local Union 150 and a proud veteran who served in the United States Army. Douglas's commitment to both his work and his country exemplified his strong sense of duty.
A man of many interests, Douglas found joy in building old cars, a hobby that reflected his passion for craftsmanship and creativity. He was married to Geraldine (Berryhill) on February 18, 1992, a union that brought immense happiness to his life until her passing on October 27, 2011. Douglas cherished the memories they created together.
He is survived by his loving family, which includes his son Chris Michaels (Alicia Santiago-Michaels) and daughter Nicole Mane (Robert). He also leaves behind his stepdaughters, Rebecca (James) Micus, Kellie Trimarco (Jimmy Feltman) and Dana Anders (Brian), along with his siblings: Samuel (Ruth) Michaels, Nancy Michaels, Julie (Dave) Ireland, Shirley Fay (the late James), and Rose Marie Shaffer. His special friend Mary Anders will also remember him fondly. Douglas took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Riley, Rolin, Jase, Madison, Bella, Christina, Michael, Zachary, Stephanie, and Brandon, who brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Douglas’s legacy is marked not only by his professional achievements but also by the love and guidance he provided to his family. His spirit will continue to resonate with those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on February 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 620 Legion Dr. Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. The burial service with military honors will follow at Mound Prairie Cemetery beginning at 1:15 PM.
Douglas Edward Michaels will be remembered for his compassion, dedication, and the love he shared with all who crossed his path.
