Elkhorn: Ellen R. Amend, 94: of Elkhorn, WI died Tuesday May 27, 2014 at Aurora Memorial Hospital Burlington. She was born June 13, 1919 in Elkhorn, WI the daughter of the late Frank and Lydia (Bigelow) Earnest. She graduated from Delavan-Darien High School. She was united in marriage to Edward Amend on June 15, 1938 in Millard, WI. Ed died April 25, 1993. Ellen was a devout homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a 4-H leader for over 30 years for Sugar Creek 4-H, a member of Tibbets Grange #762, Rock-Walworth Pomona Grange, Walworth County Homemakers-Millardaires Club (50 year member) and was very active with her church (Life member). She is survived by her daughter-in-law Karen Johnston, four grandchildren; Greg (Toni) Walter, Brenda Walter, Kim Anderson and Jill (Chad) Hummel. Her six great-grandchildren; Joshua Amend, Mariah Amend-Anderson, Chad Amend-Anderson, Taylor, Dakota and Hunter Hummel, one great-great granddaughter; Madison Amend and by 3 step great- great grandchildren. Ellen is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Edward, her son Gerald Amend and her daughter Dorothy Ulfeng. Funeral service will be 11:30 AM Wednesday June 4, 2014 at Millard Community Covenant Church N6713 County Road O Elkhorn, WI with Rev. Lyle Heinitz officiating. Burial will be at Millard Cemetery.
