Ernie Kloppstein, 83, of Williams Road, Genoa City died Wednesday, June 3, 2015. His passing was peaceful; gently passing from this life and joyfully entering the next life. His father LJ Kloppstein, his mother Alice Lena Carlson, and his brother Robert Kloppstein have gone on before him.

Born at his parent's home on December 8,1931, he lived less than a mile from that house with his wife, Ruth his partner in marriage for over 60 years.  His life was filled with the love of family, friends and many in the community.

His years with his farm and produce business filled his days with hard work, but he never hesitated to talk to people or offer help.  He was the costumed driver of wagon rides to the Pumpkin Patch, making countless memories for young children in the area.  He served the community as a member of the Genoa City Lions Club for over 50 years.

His service to country in South Korea in 1953-54 made him eligible for and an active member of the American Legion Post 183 and the Bloomfield Center VFW Post 5830 in Genoa City for many years. He served as an elected supervisor of the Walworth County Board for more than  two decades, working for the community.

.

He was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva, serving in numerous capacities; his joy in the music and services gave him hope and strength.

As a boy, his nickname was Sunny—because of his smile and optimism, his cheerful life spark will be missed by his surviving family: his wife, Ruth; his sons, Jay Kloppstein and Robert Kloppstein; his daughters, Terry Caruso and her husband Michael Caruso, June Glennon and her husband John Glennon Kristine Colbert and Kari Nikolish and her husband Brandon Nikolish; his 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Join the family in a Celebration of Life on June 25, 2015, visitation with family from 9:30-11 am, 11 am service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 700 N Bloomfield Road, Lake Geneva, WI.

Memorial gifts may go to Immanuel E Lutheran Church Building Fund or to Immanuel Endowment Fund, 700 N Bloomfield Road. Lake Geneva, WI 53147
