Eugene Frank Hoffman (Gene) of Elkhorn, WI left this world peacefully in his sleep on January 5, 2024 at Holton Manor in Elkhorn, WI.

Gene was born on May 11, 1937 in Chicago, IL.  After attending Walworth High School (now Big Foot), he went on to join an apprenticeship in carpentry, which led him to establish and run Gene Hoffman Construction for 50 years in Elkhorn, WI.

He met his loving wife, Jeanne Rohleder, at the Walworth County Fair in 1956. They married in 1958 and went on to have four children. They loved attending Elkhorn High School basketball games and remained avid fans of basketball throughout their years together.

Gene was very active in his community serving as City of Elkhorn Alderman. He was also a member of the Lions Club anda member of Calvary Community Church for over 50 years where he served on many boards and was engaged in various project committees.

Gene was a witty penny-pinching prankster, a keeper of things, with a soft-spot for animals.  He loved trains, to build, fix and save things, golf, fish, garden and play cards.  An insatiable inability to sit still, Gene liked to work, work and do more work.With his Bohemian background, he loved all things tied to his roots including Blood Sausage, Kolache cookies, Houska bread, and Knedlyki dumplings.

Gene is survived by his wife Jeanne Hoffman of 65 years, his children Carolyn Ness, Joan Wittman (Jay), Michael Hoffman, and Liz Jansen (Kurt), three grandchildren, Kelcie and Jacob Wittman and Elise Jansen, and three siblings, Debbie Olson, Darrell Hoffman and Sharon Hoffman.

SERVICES HAVE BEEN PUSHED BACK LATER IN THE DAY. Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay, Wisconsin with visitation from 1:00PM- 2:00 pm, services to directly follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to the Clothing Outreach Center of Calvary Community Church or St Croix Hospice.
