Elkhorn: Gail F. Ponder, 98: of W. Lakeshore Drive Elkhorn, WI died Saturday August 30, 2014 at home surrounded by family. She was born October 27, 1915 in Delavan, WI the daughter of the late Burton D. and Edith Mae (Gates) Fairchild. Gail was united in marriage to Daniel Ponder on October 13, 1945 in Jeffersonville, IN. Dan died June 17, 2013. Gail was elected and served as town clerk for the Town of Geneva, She worked for over 23 years in the Walworth County Treasurer's office retiring as Deputy Treasurer in 1984. She was a member of the Millard Community Covenant Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son Terry Ponder of Elkhorn, WI, three grandchildren: Laurie Ann Ponder of Waterford, WI, Jenifer L. Bieneman of Elkhorn, WI and Daniel L. (Christine) Ponder of Whitewater, WI. Seven great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, two sisters-in-law; Lois Fairchild of Delavan, WI and Alice Fairchild of Lake Geneva, WI, one niece Betty Bradford of Elkhorn, WI and by a host of other relatives and friends. Gail is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Daniel, two brothers: Daniel and Gordon Fairchild and one sister Edna Doane. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday September 4, 2014 at Millard Community Covenant Church N6713 County Road O Elkhorn, WI with Rev. Lyle Heinitz officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva, WI. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI.
