Major Gene A. Kieffer, age 95 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at his home. He was born on April 4, 1919 in Wausau, WI; the son of George and Anne (Albrent) Kieffer. Gene was united in marriage to LaFerne Hall on July 7, 1941 in Elkhart, IN. LaFerne died on February 18, 2013. Gene was a Major in the United States Army during World War II. He was also the Hospital Administrator for many years at Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI. Gene was an avid clock maker, wood worker and enjoyed working on cars.
Gene is survived by his eight children; Cecelia Britton of TX, Gloria Kieffer of CO, Gene (Teresa) Kieffer II of TX, Gary Kieffer of Elkhorn, WI, Robert (Melanie) Kieffer of TX, Greg (Ginger ) Kieffer of IL, Debra Davis of TX, and Mary (Mark) Huntington of Appleton, WI, 12 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, George (Pat) Kieffer of MI and Father Thomas Kieffer of CA, and one sister, Marion Jane Poper of MI. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, LaFerne, his parents, and infant sister, Charlotte.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory in Elkhorn, WI with Father Oriol Regales officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30AM until service time on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gene's name to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, PO Box 636, Port Washington, WI 53074.
