George E. McCabe Jr. age 88 of Mukwonago, WI died at AngelsGrace Hospice surrounded by his family on Tuesday May 21, 2024. George was born on July 14, 1935; son of the late George and Elizabeth (Jansen) McCabe. He was united in marriage to MaryLou Richards on March 16, 1963. They raised their family and spent many loving years together until the time of her passing on their 54th Wedding Anniversary in 2017. George was a very proud US Air Force Veteran and an active member of Walworth County Chapter of VietNow. He worked for the Beloit Corporation for 28 years and retired in 1997. His favorite pastime was sitting outside while listening to the radio and people watching. He enjoyed breakfast at the Blue Bay restaurant and his "Blue Bay Family." He touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, generosity, and humor. He loved his family above all things, and was an immensely proud father and grandfather.
George is survived by his children; Diane (Randy) Licht, Mark (Cathy) McCabe, Kristi (Paris) Hay; grandchildren; Stephen (Brandy Zillmer) Flitcroft, Heather (Adam) Esch, Danielle McCabe, Tiffany Beckwith, Craig McCabe, Jordan McCabe, Ethan Hay, Bri Hay; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister June; brothers John and Raymond; and son-in-law Gary Flitcroft. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at AngelsGrace Hospice for their compassionate care and incredible kindness of George and family during his stay.
A visitation for George will take place at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI on Tuesday May 28, 2024 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. Then again on Wednesday May 29th from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. A Memorial service will follow Wednesday's visitation at 11:00AM officiated by Pastor Kathleen Krostal and concluded with Military Honors. George will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery following a private family committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's name may be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ 76 S. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI 53121; or to AngelsGrace Hospice N74W35908 Servants Way Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
