Gerald "Gerry" M. Wolter, 75 of Elkhorn, WI, was born to eternal life on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family, after a Brave Battle with heart disease. He was born May 1, 1949, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late William "Bill" and Delite (Broakway) Wolter. Gerry graduated from Elkhorn High School with the Class of 1967. Gerry served in the United States Army from 1969 -1975. After discharge in the Spring of '71, he met the love of his life, Helen Baumeister. They were married on December 15, 1973, in Waterford, WI. He received a degree in marketing. Gerry worked in Trucking; Tank, Dump trucks, his own trucking and Heavy Equipment Truck Driver. His sons remember fondly their trips tagging along with Dad in his truck. Gerry was a caring man visiting and helping dear friends and family during times of illness.
Gerry was an avid fisherman. One of his favorite trips (besides sons and grandchildren) was up to Canada with good friends. He enjoyed watching the Packers and the Brewers. He was supportive to his wife and sons in their work. Gerry cherished time with his grandchildren, fishing, sports or "Let's go for ice cream". He would remind them that he loved them more . Gerry was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and brother. Gerry and Helen had "Supper Dates" to DQ and Ice Cream Shops.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Helen, three sons: David Wolter, Scott (Cecilia) Wolter, and Matthew (Angela) Wolter, four grandchildren: Addeline, Savannah, William, and Annalise Wolter, and his two siblings: Claudia Bernau and Bill (Diana) Wolter. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jack Bernau.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 to 12:00PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn. Followed immediately with Military Honors at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Tibbets, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wolter Family. Online guest book at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.
